DEADLINES FOR GF2 FUNDING
The GF2 funding program is coming to an end! All Pre-Approval Farm Stewardship applications must be submitted by June 30th, 2017. Claims and project completions for pre-approvals and rebates are due January 31, 2018.

All Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program applications are due August 1, 2017 and the projects and claims must be completed by February 15, 2018.


AGRI-ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP PLAN
Agricultural practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of farming activities on the landscape are often referred to as Beneficial Management Practices or BMPs. The Swift Current Creek Watershed Stewards, through the Farm Stewardship Program, are implementing the Agri Environmental Group Plan (AEGP).

Producers in either the Swift Current Creek Watershed or the Cypress Hills North Slope can access funding for projects such as; forage seeding, riparian fencing, corral relocations and improved stream crossings.

Please take note of the following deadlines for the Farm Stewardship Program and Farm and Ranch Water Infrastrucutre Program:

Farm Stewardship Pre-Approval applications must be submitted by June 30, 2017 and all projects completed and claims submitted by January 31, 2018.

All rebate applications, projects, and claims must be submitted by January 31, 2018.

For the Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program all applications must be submitted by August 1, 2017 and all projects completed and claims submitted by February 15, 2018.

Eligible AEGP Projects
Fencing to Protect Surface Water
Example projects: fencing to exclude livestock from a watercourse or water body
Eligible costs: fencing materials, labour
50% funding up to $10,000

Riparian Area Grazing Management and Fencing*
Example projects: fencing to improve management in a riparian area, or on native grass
Eligible costs: fencing materials, labour
50% funding up to $10,000

Relocation of Livestock Facilities*
Example project: relocate corrals that pose a risk to water
Eligible costs: consulting fees, equipment, labour, materials, infrastructure, site remediation
60% funding up to $50,000

Farmyard Runoff Control*
Example projects: divert clean run-off from entering a site, retain polluted run-off for on-site treatment
Eligible costs: consulting fees, materials, labour, equipment, earthwork
50% funding up to $30,000

Natural Waterway Erosion Control*
Example projects: revegetate or otherwise control erosion on natural watercourses
Eligible costs: consulting fees, materials and installation costs, seed, site prep, labour
75% funding up to $30,000

Creek and Stream Crossings*
Example projects: develop or change a stream crossing to improve stream function
Eligible costs: consulting fees, materials and installation costs, labour, equipment
50% funding up to $20,000

Water Flow and Erosion Control*
Example projects: stabilize drainage works on cropland
Eligible costs: consulting fees, earthwork, seed, labour, equipment
50% funding up to $20,000

Protecting High Risk Erodible and Saline Soil
Example projects: convert erodible and saline cropland to permanent cover, plant riparian buffers
Eligible costs: seed, site prep, labour, equipment
50% fundingup to $10,000

Native Plant Establishment*
Example projects: seed native vegetation
Eligible costs: seed, site prep, labour, equipment
75% funding up to $10,000

Many more projects are available, including the Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program which can include 50% funding for dugouts, new wells, pipelines, watering systems, and even 90% funding for well decommissioning.
