The Swift Current Creek Watershed Stewards Inc. is a primarily volunteer, not-for-profit corporation formed by local people in the Swift Current Creek and Rush Lake Creek Watersheds.
When did you join the SCCWS?
January, 2003

Why did you join? The Swift Current Creek runs through our property extensively and as such we do not take the creek for granted. The creek can be peaceful and serene and then in spring it can become a raging torrent. When I saw the Water and Sewer Newsletter in the Southwest Booster, I was interested in the work the stewards were doing. In November of 2004 the stewards were in need of an interim coordinator and I accepted the position. This position became permanent in January 2005 and I accepted the challenge.

SCCWS Mission Statement: Enhance water quality and stream health of the Swift Current Creek Watershed by promoting awareness and understanding among water users
SCCWS Goals:
1. Educate users of the Swift Current Creek Watershed, on a continuous basis, about issues and impacts which affect water quality,
2. Monitoring water quality and riparian health to assist in co-operative solutions regarding water management issues,
3. Foster an attitude of individual responsibilty toward watershed stewardship

I was born and raised on a farm outside of Waldeck, Saskatchewan, which is located 10 minutes from Swift Current. I have always loved nature and enjoy any sport that involves the outdoors, including quadding and fishing to wakeboarding and skiing. I completed my degree in Agriculture in the spring of 2009 from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. I majored in Environmental Science because I have always believed that the health of our environment is extremely important. Our farm is located along the banks of the Swift Current Creek, which is where my appreciation for the creek began. This is my first job out of University and I look forward to being the SCCWS new Agri-Environmental
Group Plan Agrologist, as well as
Invasive Plants Coordinator.

I was born and raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. I grew up playing sports, camping and going to the lake. I am going into my second year at the University of Regina, working towards a degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing. At SCCWS I am the Youth Stewardship Coordinator giving me the opportunity to learn more about the environment and work with kids .
